Meeting Rooms

The Central Mississippi Regional Library System offers meeting and multipurpose rooms for educational, cultural, and informational gatherings that serve the interests of the local community. These spaces are available to the public on an equitable, first-come, first-served basis, with library programs and staff events receiving priority scheduling. Rooms may be reserved up to three months in advance and must be used for meetings or events that are open to the public. Policy on Use of Multipurpose Meeting Rooms

Groups using the facilities are responsible for setting up and arranging the room to meet their needs, providing any necessary materials or supplies, and leaving the space in the same condition in which it was found. Library equipment may be requested in advance, subject to availability. Users must also comply with all applicable library policies, including attendance limits and supervision requirements for minors.

All reservations are subject to the library’s meeting room guidelines, which are designed to ensure fair and safe use of the facilities. Publicity for events held in library meeting rooms must not imply sponsorship or endorsement by the library. Admission fees, sales activities, and other commercial uses are prohibited. Food and refreshments may be permitted only in locations where facilities allow, and alcoholic beverages are not permitted on library property.

Groups and individuals using meeting rooms are financially responsible for any damage to library property and must conclude meetings within normal library operating hours unless prior approval has been granted. Use of a meeting room does not constitute endorsement by the Central Mississippi Regional Library System of the viewpoints, policies, or activities of any group or organization. The library reserves the right to relocate groups or deny future reservations if policies and procedures are not followed.

Individual users and small study groups may use available rooms when not reserved; however, priority is given to community organizations and public gatherings.

* This policy applies to all CMRLS meeting rooms except the following which are governed by individual city policies: Brandon Public Library; Richland Public Library; Northwest Point Reservoir Library; G. Chastaine Flynt Memorial Library, Flowood; Lake Public Library; Magee Public Library; Mendenhall Public Library; Floyd J. Robinson Memorial Library, Raleigh.

Study Room Use

Study Rooms are available at select CMRLS branches for quiet study, small group work, and team projects. Rooms may be reserved for up to two hours on a first-come, first-served basis, with extensions allowed when availability permits.

Reservations may be made by phone or in person. Only one active reservation per individual or group is allowed at each library. Reservations will be canceled if users do not arrive within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time.

To ensure a safe and welcoming environment:

  • Rooms must be vacated 15 minutes before closing.
  • Food, alcohol, smoking, vaping, and commercial activities are prohibited.
  • Furniture may not be moved, and nothing may be attached to walls or furniture.
  • Meetings must remain quiet and consistent with normal library use.
  • The person reserving the room is responsible for the space and any damages.

Use of study rooms does not imply library endorsement of any group or activity. Failure to follow library policies may result in loss of room privileges.
