Who Is Eligible?
You may receive a CMRLS library card if you live, work, attend school, or own property in Rankin, Scott, Simpson, or Smith County—or in an adjoining Mississippi county. A nonresident card is also available for an annual fee.

Acorn Card
- Fine-free card for vulnerable adults and patrons age 18 and under.
- May check out two items at a time.
- Parental consent is required for minors.
- Cardholders age 17 and under may not check out video games, DVDs, or Blu-ray discs.
Resident Library Card
- Available to eligible residents, workers, students, and property owners.
- Bring a Mississippi driver's license or another photo ID.
- Proof of address may include a utility bill, telephone bill, or lease.
- Applicants under 18 need a parent or guardian.
Nonresident Library Card
- Available to patrons who do not meet resident eligibility requirements.
- Annual fee: $25.
- Family members at the same address may receive cards.
- A parent or guardian must sign for minor children.
Computer-Only Card
- Available to anyone who shows a valid ID and completes an application.
- Provides access to public computers.
- May be upgraded to a full-access library card later.
Guest Pass
- One-time pass for visitors who live outside the service area.
- Valid identification is required.
- Applicant must be age 18 or older.
- Provides access to public computers.
Homeschool Card
- Follows the same borrowing rules as a Teacher Card.
- A current county-issued Certificate of Attendance is required.
- Documentation must be updated each year when the card is renewed.
Teacher Card
- Available to teachers employed by a school district in the four-county service area.
- A school identification card is required.
- Classroom materials have a four-week loan period.
- Late fines are waived as a professional courtesy on eligible classroom materials.
- This card may not be used for personal checkouts.

Can my photo ID also serve as proof of address?
Yes. Your photo or government-issued ID may serve as proof of address if it displays your current address.
Does a minor need a parent or guardian?
Yes. Patrons under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who completes the minor's registration and assumes responsibility for the account.
What if I live outside the service area?
You may qualify for a nonresident card for a $25 annual fee. Visitors may also ask about a one-time guest pass for public computer use.
