Which Room Is Right for You?

Meeting rooms are designed for public gatherings and community programs, while study rooms provide smaller, quieter spaces for individuals and small groups.

Community Gatherings

Meeting Rooms

Meeting and multipurpose rooms support educational, cultural, and informational gatherings that serve the interests of the local community.

Reserve Ahead Reservations may be made up to three months in advance.
Public Meetings Meetings and events must be open to the public.
Priority Library programs and staff events receive scheduling priority.
Equipment Library equipment may be requested in advance when available.
  • Groups are responsible for setup and cleanup.
  • Rooms must be left in the condition in which they were found.
  • Publicity may not imply CMRLS sponsorship or endorsement.
  • Admission fees, sales, and commercial uses are prohibited.
  • Food may be permitted only at locations where facilities allow.
  • Alcohol is not permitted on library property.
Quiet Work Spaces

Study Rooms

Study rooms are available at select CMRLS branches for quiet study, small-group work, tutoring, collaboration, and team projects.

2-Hour Limit Rooms may be reserved for up to two hours.
Extensions Additional time may be allowed when no reservation is waiting.
Reserve Reservations may be made by phone or in person.
15-Minute Rule Reservations are canceled if users do not arrive within 15 minutes.
  • Rooms must be vacated 15 minutes before closing.
  • Food, alcohol, smoking, vaping, and commercial activities are prohibited.
  • Furniture may not be moved.
  • Nothing may be attached to walls or furniture.
  • Use must remain quiet and consistent with normal library activity.
  • The person reserving the room is responsible for the space and any damages.

Some Meeting Rooms Follow City Policies

The system meeting-room policy does not apply to meeting rooms at Brandon Public Library, Richland Public Library, Northwest Point Reservoir Library, G. Chastaine Flynt Memorial Library in Flowood, Lake Public Library, Magee Public Library, Mendenhall Public Library, and Floyd J. Robinson Memorial Library in Raleigh. Please contact those libraries directly for their room policies and reservation requirements.

Room availability and facilities vary by branch. Your local library can help you determine which space best fits your needs.

Choose the CMRLS branch where you would like to use a meeting or study room.

Call or visit the library to ask about available rooms, dates, times, capacity, and amenities.

Confirm Your Reservation

Review the applicable guidelines and complete any reservation steps required by the branch.

Before You Reserve

Room users are expected to help CMRLS maintain safe, welcoming, and well-kept public spaces.

Library programs and staff activities receive priority scheduling.
Users are responsible for damage to library property.
Meetings must conclude during normal library operating hours unless prior approval is granted.
Use of a room does not imply CMRLS endorsement of a group, activity, or viewpoint.
Failure to follow room policies may result in loss of future room privileges.
CMRLS may relocate groups when necessary for library operations.
